The End of Hell Month
You may have noticed that the daily productivity tally has gone untouched all week. Oops. Had I been updating it, it would have said:
- The usual classes and meetings
- Studying until I drop
One of the classes I’m taking right now has a reputation for being the most brutal, soul-sucking class in the program. It’s living up to the reputation. Last night, the night before our midterm this morning, my classmates’ away messages were a tortured chorus of neuroscience terms and predicted failure.
I actually had back-to-back exams this week, on the heels of pulling way too many 10-14 hour days trying to get a conference paper ready for submission, on the heels of cramming a lot of work in right before grad student evaluations, on the heels of a lot of required coursework, intermingled with some other things that majorly disrupted my work flow (like stress-induced insomnia), and…I tired. Brain fried. Ogg bash head with rock.
I’ve now hit a lull in the semester, which means I will actually have time to do things like laundry. And spend time with people instead of computers and textbooks.

Congrats on surviving!
Just to put it in perspective, all this is good training for what working life may possibly be like once you’re done with grad school
