The Black Thumb Strikes
The rosemary is dead. Wilted and gone. It had started to root, but then it just shriveled. I’ll try again with some grocery store rosemary (rumor has it that you can root almost any herbs from grocery packets) as my friend’s rosemary is sort of small and I don’t want to decimate it by taking too many cuttings.
I also noticed something wrong with both my orchids today. The new leaf on this one is covered in pits, and the underside of some of the older, shriveled leaves (due to some previous dehydration that has since been sorted out) has some black spots. The leaf growth on this one has been stunted for about two months, though it is putting out a new aerial root.

The other orchid just started putting out a new leaf last week, as I noticed excitedly:

…but the underside of one leaf on this one is also pitted and has a black spot!

The damage doesn’t seem consistent with scale or mealybugs or spider mites. I doubt it’s sunburn, as the plants are by a north window and probably don’t get enough light to begin with. I wiped all the leaves done with an anti-fungal solution after I saw it this morning, but I don’t know what else to do! If anyone reading is an orchid expert and could help me out, I’d appreciate it!
